The Story

Set within a historic grand estate in the west of Scotland, Mar Hall Golf & Spa Resort is a premier luxury destination that relies on pristine aesthetics to welcome guests from around the world. Over time, exposure to the Scottish elements had left the property’s intricate external stonework, particularly its stunning ornamental balustrades, heavily weathered and obscured by layers of atmospheric grime. Go-Wright was appointed to deliver a specialist stone cleaning and restoration package designed to revive the resort’s historic features, protecting the architectural character of the building while instantly elevating its premium curb appeal. 

Our Technical Approach

Restoring decorative stonework on a high-end, operational commercial property requires a meticulous hand and non-destructive conservation techniques: 

  • Meticulous Steam Cleaning: Utilising precision DOFF steam cleaning to gently but effectively melt away decades of deeply embedded organic growth and environmental staining, revealing the true, original colour and texture of the underlying stone. 
  • Surgical Structural Repairs: Undertaking precise mortar and masonry repairs on the delicate gothic balustrades to reverse historical decay, stabilise the features, and secure their long-term structural integrity. 
  • Live Commercial Site Logistics: Coordinating our teams seamlessly around the resort’s active daily operations, ensuring guest privacy and minimal disruption to the hotel’s premium outdoor spaces. 
  • Preservation Strategy: Applying tailored, breathable stone treatments to protect the newly revived features from future water ingress and environmental degradation.
